The future is in our hands. My friends, we have toppled in political dynasty.

That's Democratic Socialist, Zoran Mamdani, giving his victory speech after winning New York City's

race for mayor.

The 34-year-old will be the city's youngest mayor in more than a century, and he'll also

be the first who is Muslim and South Asian.

New York will remain a city of immigrants, a city built by immigrants, powered by immigrants, and as of tonight, led by an immigrant.

After his defeat of former Governor Andrew Cuomo in the June Democratic primary,

Mamdani built on his momentum, despite some voters being unsure about his progressive policies. President Donald Trump, a native New Yorker, has falsely described Mamdani as a communist,

and has previously suggested he'd quote, take over the city if Mamdani was elected.

But Mamdani had this message for the president.

So Donald Trump, since I know you're watching, I have four words for you.

Turn the volume up!

Mumbdani's win isn't the only good news for Democrats this morning.

Blue candidates across the ideological spectrum won key races in Virginia, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

The first big win came in Virginia, where Moderer Abigail Spanberger, a former CIA officer,

will become the first woman to serve as the state's governor, also turning in the strongest

democratic performance in the state's recent history by a 57 to 42 margin.

Progressive candidate Ghazala Hashmi also made history winning the lieutenant governor's race,

becoming the nation's first Muslim woman elected to statewide office.

In New Jersey, CNN projects that moderate Democrat candidate Mikey Sherrill will emphatically

win the governor's race,
