Today we got somebody who I've looked up to for a long period of time.

Glad to have him on the show show somebody who was a man of many

talents and I guess it's fair to say refuses to be pigeonholed in any one thing

he's not a shut up and dribble or shut up in backpedal type of dude but none other

than Malcolm Jenkins how you feeling today man

Well I'm good brother appreciate you having me yeah for sure we usually start each one of our

shows by having our guests walk us through the arc of their careers but you're recently

retired from what was a story, Hall of Fame,

maybe, is, we'll see, I believe so.

A 13 year career in the NFL.

So instead of walking us through your career, I want you to reflect on your time in an NFL. How did you sustain for 13 years when the average is only a few years and what will you miss most about that time?

Yeah, I think the things that help me sustain was just, you know, a drive, you know, really

a change throughout my career and I'm talking about it throughout my memoir, you know, early

on it was just about competition and wanting to see how I stood against the best in the business or the best I could find.

And then eventually that changes to wanting to be the best and trying to consistently win and have success.

And eventually you really start to think about impact and who are you affecting around you and I talk about really being driven by

affecting my community, by affecting my teammates, the people who interact with me

and send my family up to succeed as well.

And so you'll see that journey kind of throughout and that's really who I've been now,
