We live in a fast-paced, ever-moving world where everyone seems to be rushing in every direction.

And yet, in scripture, God desires to teach us that walking with him is our greatest and most important adventure.

If I were to ask you today, who is the great man of faith in the Old Testament, almost without

exception, everyone would agree, that's Abraham. He is the father of the faithful. And I believe

that's true. But did it ever dawn on you that if Abraham had not brought Isaac his son along,

it helped him to develop faith in God, that we would

have no Israel, that it was not enough for Abraham simply to believe God and make the journey

of faith, but he had to bring Isaac along as well. We've come in our study of Scripture to

Genesis chapter number 22, to a chapter that is a very sober, serious chapter, because as rejoicing as Abraham and

Sarah are that God has given him a son, God has now said to Abraham, now take him up to a mountain

and sacrifice him.

You'll remember in Genesis chapter 22 in verse number five, the Bible says, and Abraham said into his young men, abide him. You'll remember in Genesis chapter 22 and verse number five, the Bible says,

and Abraham said into his young men, abide you here with the ass, and I and the lad will go yonder

and worship and come again to you. And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it upon

story as Abraham begins to offer his son as a sacrifice and God does indeed provide a lamb.
