Go ahead and turn to Matthew chapter 9. We're in the book of Matthew and we've been looking.

I like to think of the first four books of the New Testament as the documentaries about

the life of Jesus. If there was a film crew following him around and they didn't have

film, they had notepads. This is what we would get. So Matthew chapter 9 is where we're

going to be. If you don't have a Bible with you, you're going to need one. So put your

hand up in the air and we'll have some guys coming down with Bibles in theory. So we've

got some people over here. If we can do that, that would be great to get them a Bible.

They might have to share with their neighbors. But yeah, if we could get some help on that,

that would be awesome. Matthew chapter 9, we're going to start in verse 14. This evening

and we have quite a long text to get through, but I promise you it's going to be worth it.

So Matthew 9, 14, it says this, then John's disciples came and asked him,

how is it that we in the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples do not fast?

Jesus answered, well, how can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while he is with them?

The time will come when the bridegroom is taken from them, then they will fast.

No one so is a patch of untrunk cloth on an old garment. For the patch will pull away from the garment,

making the tear even worse, verse 17. Neither do people pour new wine into old wine skins.

If they do, the skins will burst, the wine will run out and the wine skins will be ruined. No.

They pour new wine into new wine skins and both are preserved.

While he was saying this, a synagogue leader came and knelt before him and said,

my daughter has just died, but come and put your hand on her and she will live.

Gosh. Jesus got up and went with him and so did his disciples.
