We've got a great show for you today.

And yes, we will be putting it through a little bit of the lens of the novel coronavirus or COVID-19 as it's

familiarly known, but we're not going to focus on that. Let me read a quote I found. I found

this quote and the opening of the show was written before the pandemic took hold of the world

and gripped us all. So this is from a medium.com article from June 2019, almost a year ago by Richard Yale. Let me read this opening,

and then I'll tell you why I kept it for today's show. He said, entertainment is ultimately

an attention business, and the competition for attention has never been fiercer, with new

entrance from tech firms and non-media brands jumping into content production.

With the explosion and content, consumers today are often overwhelmed when choosing content to watch.

So we're talking about visual media, yes.

I picked this a while ago.

Didn't know we would be where we are today, but I think it's even more relevant as many of us are sheltered in place, sequestered, quarantined, whether we are having symptoms or not, whether we're protecting ourselves, our families, our loved ones, our coworkers, whatever we're doing, we're all trying to be safe.

So entertainment is coming to us in ways that we never imagined, but it's coming to us a certain way now that we can't go to the theater, we can't go to the movies, we can't go to concerts, we can't go to lectures, it's all coming at us.
