Ghosts or Family, was shortlisted for the Center for Fiction's First Novel Prize and the

Penn Hemingway Award for debut novel. Her writing has appeared in the Paris Review Daily,

Lenny, The New York Times, Guernica, and other publications. Masey was born in St. Catherine, Jamaica, but was raised in Queens, New York. She earned an MFA from Brooklyn College, an M-L-I-S from Rutgers University, and a BA in English and American Studies from Wesleyan University. She is currently an instructor for
