So you don't think Musk has a grand plan. There's a telos to his decisions, in other words.

No more than there is to capitalism in general, which is just further accumulation. In my view,

the impersonal abstract process of capital accumulation works on the capitalists in the same way it does on the workers.

It treats them like a machine for creating accumulation, and it destroys things in order to recreate them again.

It's a weird evil spirit.

That's the way you have to kind of look at it.

So when you ask, like, what is he thinking?

What are they doing?

They don't know. They think they

know. And we imagine they have some master plan, but they're just as mystified as Joe Schmoe,

who's going to his job. They don't see the ways in which capital pushes down on them.

And then they come up with all these crazy theories of what's

happening, often conspiratorial, because they can't actually see it. And it's something you can't see.

Why all of a sudden do I have this or that desire? Why all of a sudden does the economy like

lurch in different directions? Well, capital is a kind of organism. It's parasitic upon us. And I'm not saying feel

bad for them because I think we need to struggle against them, but they are also at its whims.

You know, we ask ourselves, why does this figure behave in this way? Why does this figure behave in that way?

When I look at these guys, there's a very simple answer.

It's like, look, they're capitalists.

They are the side of the productive regime, the productive totality that we live in that behaves in this kind of way, just in the same way as your average Joe has to go out and work.
