Let's start things here in New York where as we record this, ousted Venezuelan leader Nicholas Maduro and his wife are set to appear in court to face drugs and weapons charges.

Here's CNN's Laura Coates with what we can expect from today's appearance.

It will be a routine in terms of the allegations and the charges that he's been indicted being read to both defendants, the wife and of course Maduro as well.

This has been years in the making.

DOJ has wanted this indictment for quite some time.

They got this indictment years ago.

All that was left was actually having them here

and in the country to have them be presented

for the actual charges.

We have no idea what the defense they might raise will be

or whether they'll try to get bail.
