Today I have Isabel McFadden to talk about the Madeline McCann case.

Hello, Roberta. How are you?

Well, just let me know in the chat.

If you can find us, we just started again over here in a new chat thing. So why are you interested in this case? You've been following it for the past five years? Yeah.

Well, you know, I've actually been following it from the beginning.

I didn't really start it to comment and be more active about it until about 20, the end of 2014, I believe, beginning of 2015.

For me, it became very personal.

As you know, I'm not a true crime person. I'm not somebody who follows many other cases. I think since the Madeline case, I probably paid more attention to other crimes that have happened. But for me, it was just basically about being Portuguese and the,

the case happening in my country,

and I felt some sort of a responsibility to help.

I felt like there weren't enough voices from Portugal

who could speak English and could help and translating and just, you know, keeping it a little

bit more realistic from the Portuguese side and the PR machine that was working on the

behalf of the McCanns seemed to be overwhelming, some great voices that were out there speaking

for Maddie.

So I just felt that I could help.

So you've also mentioned in previous episodes we've done that you felt that Portugal was really

maligned in this case.

How so?

Well, it was very easy because of language.
