Hey, what's going on, guys? Welcome back to the Jeremy Scott Fitness podcast and radio show.

0:05.1

We are coming at you hot today on macros. Macros matter, calculating your macros, what the hell are

0:10.8

macros, and everything in between. One of the biggest questions we got from you guys on that

0:15.5

is to dive into it a little bit more in detail, excuse me, and just kind of break it down in how we do it, how we kind of coach

0:22.1

our people, hoping to give you guys some examples. And so let's, let's dig into it. So,

0:26.3

with that said, macros, what are macros, why would you want to calculate your macros,

0:31.5

what are your individual macros, why are they important, how do I track them, and so on.

0:36.8

All these phrases, many of you guys have

0:38.5

probably heard before. But just for the record, let's get it out of the way. Macros are just short

0:43.7

for macronutrients. So in humans, the big three are proteins, carbohydrates, and fats.

0:49.1

Those my friends are macros. So when you hear people talking about it from now on, now you

0:53.0

guys know. So macro nutrients,

0:54.6

again, are the big three proteins, carbs, fats. Macro became a buzzword years ago, like in the kind

1:00.4

of flexible dieting world, people kind of hack it, going back years. I think the first time I heard

1:05.6

it was in a blog, like on bodybuilding.com, like way back in the day before social media was huge

1:10.9

and it was if it fits your macro so if you see i a f ym it basically was if it fits your macros

1:18.1

that's what they're pertaining to i believe the original phrase was actually if it fits your

1:21.5

macros eat that shit and i think that's actually the first time i had read it basically what

1:25.7

it means is if if the food you're eating adds up inside the macros you eat, they're really saying it doesn't matter what you eat overall. So bring me back to the flexible dieting, eating kind of world. And the reason that your macros matter, it's really simple. It's your ability to understand and calculate and adjust these macros, which helps determine what your physique will look like. So by understanding and having a general idea of how much proteins, carbs, and fats go into your body, you should be eating daily. You can kind of shape your body and manipulate it to look the way you want within reason. So knowing your macros obviously won't guarantee you success of being ripped, nor will it ensure you be healthy inside and out, but it's a good place to start. And the reason we say macros matter just for the simple fact of this. And again, if it fits your macro stuff, well, Jeremy, that means I can eat anything, as long as it's, you know, if I have 200 carbs a day, it means I can eat sour patch kids for all 200 carbs. Well, I guess technically you're right, but over time, I think you'll look and feel drastically different if your carbohydrates came from, let's say, asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, and rice, as opposed to just Pop-Tarts and Sarpatch Kids. And there's also micronutrients, you guys, which will touch on a different podcast altogether, but again, micronutrients are just your vitamins and minerals, all the things that make us healthy and keep us from not dying so there is that too so again you can't just eat all crispy

2:39.0

cream donuts for your carbohydrates and think that it's going to build you this amazing ripped

2:42.6

physique and also on the same note you're going to see the volume of food drask we go down obviously

2:46.9

you can eat a shit ton of broccoli compared to pop tarts in terms terms of getting 100 carbohydrates. So there's always that. But anyways, I digress. The reason macros matter, imagine you guys are driving to, like, drive your car across the country, right? So you're going from New York to California. Now, you have no roadmap. You have no GPS. You have no road signs pointing you where to go do you think
