No longer destined to mark out years and years of dutiful supplication.

We are leaving and we are closing the door on the way out.

This time next week, I'll be wearing a special

tie in preparation for the big party taking place in Parliament Square and I will be preparing

my best Bibbon Tucker for the celebrations that will last long into the night until the

brand new dawn. Forgive me for waxing a little bit lyrical but it's all rather exciting

isn't it? And as ever I will welcome your views and your hopes for a brand new Britain as well.

Kicking off the show, I'm going to be asking this question.

How on earth do you get away with attacking a police officer doing his job using a deadly two-foot-long machete and somehow avoid being found guilty of attempted murder?

All over Twitter yesterday and all over social media yesterday as well, people were absolutely incredulous at the idea that PC Stuart Alton was attacked last August by serial thug Muhammad Rodwan. He was tried to kill him after he was stopped for a traffic offence.

And if the police officer hadn't had a taser with him, he would probably not be alive today.
