Next year could be the year for Apple. That's apparently the thinking of Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives.

That's on top of what he refers to as a historic year for the Cupertino company.

9 to 5 Mac helps us chart that very recent past and very near future.

Recounting a remarkable 2019 Ives note says,

A year ago, Cupertino was facing major Herculean-like challenges

around lagging China demand, tariff escalation on the horizon, increasing competition on

smartphones, and trailing Samsung and others in the key 5G race.

Investors were throwing in the towel on the name with many on the street thinking that Apple Growth Story was over and in the rearview mirror.

Enter the cook. Ives thinks Apple CEO was, well, Herculean, I suppose.

Things he did or helped do include leading Apple to successfully battle

through China growth struggles, settling the global legal battle between Apple and Qualcomm, buying Intel's

smartphone modem division to boost Apple's 5G plans, bringing the iPhone 11 line online, and he kept his head and played through

even as the implementation of China tariffs seemed mere days away.
