The changing phase of media just got a huge dose of sameness,

yet it does promise big changes. The New York Times says the Walt

Disney Company has agreed to buy most of the assets of 21st Century Fox for roughly 52.4 billion dollars. I got to say it's fun to see a merger you

understand, even if you know you're missing a lot of the ramifications. And when I say

you, I of course do mean me.

When Apple buys something, what people think it's going to do with the acquisition seems to

depend on what those particular people are particularly interested in. Disney buying 21st century Fox is a media play. We know that.

That said, we likely don't know all the ramifications.

Quoting the New York Times.

Disney, which owns ABC and the SPN, hopes 21st century will supercharge its plans to

introduce two Netflix-style streaming services. The company's first major streaming effort,

E-SPN-plus, will arrive in the spring. A second and still unnamed offering,

built around the company's Disney, Marvel, Lucas Film, and Pixar brands will roll out late next year.

Rounding out its streaming portfolio will be Hulu, the already established service that focuses on older viewers with programming that includes ABC shows.
