Apple's earnings seem to have been neither terribly exciting nor terribly disappointing.

The Mac observer says after hours trading on Apple was muted once the numbers were released

indicating no alarms and no surprises.

Apple's own release says the company posted quarterly revenue of $46.9 billion and quarterly net income of

9 billion or a buck 67 per diluted share.

These results compared revenue of $51.5 billion a net income of $11.1 billion or a buck 96 per diluted share in the year

ago quarter.

While those numbers are down versus last year, they were in line with Apple's guidance,

coming in at the high end of guidance for the most part.

Meanwhile, that buck 67 earnings per share beat the streets expectations by a penny.

On the phone, Apple sold 45.5 million iPhones last quarter.

While that was down from the $48 million it sold in the same quarter a year earlier,

the number did beat the street's expectation by about 300,000 units.

It may not sound like a lot in iPhone terms, but a win is a win.
