A once and future Apple analyst has some thoughts on Friday's iPhone launch.

Writing for the Loop Ventures blog, avid Apple watcher Gene Munster said the way he sees it things look better for iPhone 10-S-Max than they have for any other

plus-sized iPhone not that there were more people there were not.

When he buzzed New York City's Fifth Avenue store, Mr Munster found

406 people in line for iPhone 10S and 10S Max.

That is way up from the 293 people that were in line last year for iPhone 8, but way

down from the 821 in line last year for iPhone 10.

For his part, Munster says he expected the shorter lines for two reasons.

First, consumers are increasingly pre-ordering devices online to avoid long lines on launch day.

And second, Munster and Company expect iPhone 10-R, which debuts on the 23rd of October,

to account for 38% of iPhone sold in the next year compared to 21% for the 10s and 10s

max combined 9% for the 10s 12% for the 10s, 12% for the 10s max.
