EY E. E. E. E. E. E. Chart magazine, available for iOS Newsstand now. Apple's third quarter earnings reported last week were met with a measured response

from financial analysts.

There were things to liken the numbers, like the record number of iPhone sold for a June quarter.

There are also things to not like, like the lower than expected sales of iPads.

The immediate response from Wall Street was basically, okay, that's fine, but the second half of the year is when things are going to go nuts in a good way.

Now that analysts have had time to dig deeper into Apple's numbers, their reaction is,

Computer World ran a piece at the end of last week that had Gardner analyst Van Baker saying,

as well as they did with the iPhone this quarter, with all the rumors of a new iPhone

this fall, I was impressed with the results. That tells me when the next generation comes out they're going to set the world

on fire. That was the quote that hit all of the headlines. iPhone six to set the

world on fire. It's not just soft numbers and headlines indicating that though. It's also the amount of money that Apple is spending on something or some things this quarter

both Computer World and Business Insider and pieces on the 21 billion

dollars that Apple has committed to spending with third parties in the near future

that's 15.4 billion dollars in prepayments for outsourced manufacturing and components,

as well as another 5.6 billion dollars in obligations,

mostly for acquiring manufacturing and tooling equipment put in place by Apple's component makers and product
