The long wait for Apple watches may be due to a one-two combo of unexpected demand and

unanticipated production issues. There were reports at the end of April that

Apple had signed deals with two suppliers for the watch's Taptic Engine.

That's the bit that makes the watch shimmy and shake,

the part that delivers the heartbeat of baby's friends and lovers to the end of your arm.

It's a pretty cool component and central to the

watch's unobtrusive functions. So imagine Apple's dismay when the

Taptic engines rolling out of one supplier were found to be faulty.

All production shifted to the other supplier according to reports which could go a long way

to explaining the long weights for Apple's chronometer. But the solo supplier thing

may not be limited to the Taptic engine. Apple Insider has word of a tear down of Apple

Watch by the investment firm UBS.

According to the piece, UBS found that Apple is favoring soul sourcing for many components.
