Snake is sneaking on the Mac's.

Mac rumors as the well-known Windows Backdoor Malware Snake, aka Turla, aka

aerobaris, has been tweaked and tooled for the Mac for the first time. The site

Malware Bites describes the malware as highly sophisticated.

According to the report, the Snake Malware was found last week at an installer masquerading

as Adobe Flash player, buried inside a file named install Adobe Flash player dot app.

zip. It is designed to look like a legitimate Adobe Flash installer but is signed by

an illegitimate certificate.

Now the good news, well I was going to say the good news is it actually installs Adobe Flash

player but is that good news really? Really? Anyway it doesn't just install Flash Player. It also gives

NairDwell's back door into the Mac. Those infected by Snake are vulnerable to having data stolen, says the piece,

including login information, passwords, and unencrypted files.

As always, Apple urges people to only download software either from the Mac App Store or from trusted

developers.
