You know what, people really like iPhones, and they're tuned in to when the next one's probably

coming out. Anyway, Raymond James analyst Tavis McCourt thinks so. Barron said Mr. McCourt issuing a note this

week laying out his findings from 500 smartphone owners. In his quarterly conversation he found that people

are holding off buying an iPhone now,

apparently hoping to hop on a super cycle in a few months.

Pointing out a retention rate among iPhone owners of 93.7% versus the Android retention rate of 84.9.

McCord's note says the Troy becomes more interesting when considering the timing

of respondents intended upgrades.

In our March survey, only 5.3% of iPhone owners we surveyed expect to purchase an iPhone

in the next three months, the lowest in our survey's history, while 34.1% a record

high in our survey intend to purchase one in the next 12 months, the highest in the survey's history.

This data is consistent with U.S. consumers being quite aware of a potentially

major iPhone model coming out later this year, which has fewer willing to upgrade in the next few months, but a more than

typical amount expecting to purchase on the next upgrade cycle.
