tales of Apple retail, and it's not a smart watch, it's a swatch.

How much did Apple's midweek store outages cost the company and developers?

While an exact number is impossible to know, the Mac observer has done an interesting bit of math.

The way they figure it, Apple was out about $25 million U.S. and sales for the 12 hours of downtime.

Of course that's just an average.

Showing their work, based on the $18.5 billion dollars Apple brought in from those services last year,

that breaks down to about $50 million a day.

At half a day, that's $25 million, assuming sales haven't increased at all this year,

which they likely have.

Of course, the number of moving parts on that is nutty.

Sure, App Store sales may have gone up this year.

Then again, holidays are going to be heavier buying days than just an average Wednesday, which last Wednesday
