Speculative fiction writer Peter Misick may have contributed to Apple's shares getting

knocked down yesterday, this despite the fact that he is largely a speculative fiction writer.

Oh sure, his business card say he's a financial analyst for Jeffries and Company, but don't you believe it?

It's kind of to the point that I hate talking about Peter Missick, but feel compelled to for two reasons.

One, it is fun to point out that he's practically making stuff up, and two, when Apple shares take a beating on a day that he's told one of his stories. I kind of feel like I have to tell you what he said since what he said may have helped drive the shares down.

One of his first points of concern, the next iPhone is going to be late. He doesn't think it's going to launch until the third

quarter. Now I know what you're thinking. Didn't it launch in the third quarter last year and

the year before? No, it only launched in the third quarter last year.

It actually launched in the fourth quarter the year before.

Either way, though, how does the third quarter this year make it late?

You have to go back to one of Missick's older stories.

9-5 Mac says Missick wrote a note back in January saying that production of the next iPhone

was expected to start this month with release expected in June or July.
