Apple is really into this whole Congress needs to have a heart to heart with honest to goodness experts

on encryption and technology idea. Tim Cook has said it and later today Apple's chief attorney

Bruce Sewell will say it again. The media got an advanced copy of Sewell's planned

opening statements for today's hearing before the House Judiciary Committee.

Apple Insider highlighted those and ran the full remarks. If you've kept up with the story, nothing in the prepared remarks will be surprising.

Points ticked. Apple has no sympathy for terrorists. Apple works with law enforcement.

The FBI is not asking for help, rather they're asking for

Apple to build a whole new operating system that would weaken its products to a

dangerous degree. Whether the FBI wants to say so that would set a precedent in such cases and a back door for good guys is a

backdoor for bad guys putting the privacy and safety of law-abiding citizens at risk.

Quoting Sewell's statement, the American people deserve an honest conversation around the important questions stemming from the FBI's current demand, do we want to put a limit on the technology that protects our data and therefore our

privacy and our safety in the face of increasingly sophisticated cyber attacks?

Should the FBI be allowed to stop Apple or any company from offering the American people the safest and most secure product it can make? Should the FBI have the right to compel a company to produce a product that doesn't already make to the FBI's exact specifications and

for the FBI's use.

And one more thing, Sewell will say to the congressional hearing, the decision should be made by you and your

colleagues as representatives of the people rather than through a warrant request

based on a 220-year- old statute.
