Remember the movie Next of Kin?

I never saw it, but I saw the trailer a million times.

The line I remember is,

You ain't seen bad yet, but it's coming.

If I were a Wall Street analyst, I would title every note to clients with a line from a movie,

and that would be the title of yesterday's note from J.P. Morgan.

Apple Insiders had a look at that note, had the firm saying we expect iPhone units

to decline by double digits year over year in 2019 due to prolonged replacement

cycles and lackluster demand in China.

Samsung, Apple's primary competition in Apple Insiders' words,

is also expected to see sales decline,

though by low single digits, not double.

It sounds like they are just talking about units, though.

The piece points out that one advantage Sammy has is a willingness to build affordable low and mid-range phones,

albeit dramatically sacrificing profit margins in the process.
