It's been a wild week for news, particularly about Apple Silicon Mayo.

Like, I feel like we've been on such a steady cadence for the most part of new chips, new products, new chips, new products.

But then in the past few days, Mark Garman has had a series of reports covering what to expect from both the M6 and the M7 generations.

And for the M6 specifically, I think what's most interesting is what not to expect.

So Mark says that we'll get the first M6 Mac later this year.

Apple is testing it in an entry-level MacBook Pro.

But what we will not get at any point is an M6 Pro or M6 Max or M6 Ultra chip.

So for the M6 generation, Apple is only going to release the base version of the chip,

and we won't have the Pro Max or Ultra.

This will be the first time in the Apple Silicon era that this has happened.

All the other chip generations have had those, at least pro and max and occasionally pro

max and ultra.

Yeah, the ultra has been like alternating recently.

But I guess we were expecting.

There's going to be an M5 Ultra that hasn't come out yet.

We are.

And then that's one thing he says is M5 Ultra is still going to come later this year in a new Mac studio.

But I think, how German frames it is, Apple basically, I think, looked at its chip roadmap and said,

okay, the M6 generation looks okay.

But with the M7, that's where we're really going to make some leaps and bounds,

improvements in performance, particularly around on-device artificial intelligence. So why don't

we just scrap most of the M6 generation and dedicate more of our focus to the M7, where we can
