A few weeks ago on a flight across this continent, I had a bird-eye view of the jagged mountains and broad

planes, the quiet towns and bustling cities, the haystacks and the smokestacks, the bird's eye

view of America. It was a panorama of achievement, a vision of freedom fulfilled.

It was a script in my hand that went well with what I saw. It was the script of tonight's play, the Westerner, a play about some of the men who dreamed America and made the dream come true.

To those men Samuel Goldwyn paid a tribute in his motion picture just released

and to them we dedicate this radio production with the same stars you'll see on
