Summary

Nearly one year after UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was gunned down on a Manhattan sidewalk, the man accused of executing him, Luigi Mangione, is back in court for a critical evidence hearing. This week, prosecutors and defense attorneys faced off over the backpack search that happened moments after Mangione’s arrest. Inside that backpack, police say they found two key pieces of evidence: a gun linked to the murder and a handwritten anti-insurance “manifesto.” Mangione’s defense team is fighting to get all of it thrown out, arguing the search was unconstitutional.
