As early as I can remember, I've been able to tell when I'm asleep, but not having a normal dream.

It's difficult to describe, but it feels completely different from dreaming. It's crisp and I'm hyper aware. Most of the

time I wake myself up because I don't really care for the experience and the emotional

after effects are so draining.

When I was around 14 years old, I began having lucid dreams where I was visited by people

who acted as guides.

Only one guide would appear in each dream, and they were very clear that they were tasked

with showing me specific things

to gauge my awareness.

I know that sounds unhinged, but that's what I was told at the beginning of every visit.

The visits happened every six to twelve months, and to this day, each one is burned into my memory.

One incident I remember extremely clearly was when I was visited by an older woman in a white

cotton nightgown.

She was very petite, had messy gray hair, and it was obvious she didn't want to be there. She seemed agitated.
