Summary
When performance dropped, the data told the truth. Output was cut in half, effort didn’t change and the problem wasn’t people, it was incentives. If you reward comfort instead of results, don’t be surprised when standards collapse. Clear targets. Clear consequences. No ambiguity.

| 0:00.0 | Calling it out. |
| 0:00.7 | We literally had that conversation on the social media side. So I looked at our downward trend and I said, hey, in our best year, let's look at some metrics to see what changed. And, you know, me being in business, like, I'm always a volume guy. Usually effort changes. Yeah. Is why people don't get what they want. So I said, man, I'm curious. Let's see how many videos we put out on YouTube this year versus 2023. |
| 0:25.4 | It was literally half. |
| 0:27.6 | And I go, I didn't change my effort level. |
| 0:30.3 | So what happened? |
| 0:31.9 | But what happened was everybody got on a salary. |
| 0:34.5 | So there was no incentives basically to produce massive amounts |
| 0:38.8 | of videos and to repurpose videos and to post. Because I remember there would be times where we |
| 0:43.5 | didn't put a video out for a week. And I go, I've never had in my career where we didn't put |
| 0:46.9 | out a video. What happened? Oh, well, you know, this happened, that happened. And I said, well, |
| 0:51.6 | your salary's gone. |
| 0:59.0 | You can't obviously put out the production that's needed when you're not incentivized properly. |
| 1:05.3 | And that's like another thing I learned too is that you cannot reward the wrong things. |
| 1:08.1 | You have to incentivize people the right way. |
| 1:08.5 | Yeah. |
| 1:13.9 | And so I changed literally everyone's pay at the top level especially to have some form of incentive. Like, you know, from a salesperson standpoint, |
| 1:18.1 | it's, it's obvious. Most people are commission only. Yeah. So it's like, bro, if you don't perform, |
| 1:22.0 | you suck. Like, you're just, you ain't going to eat. Yeah. But, you know, when you're a high paying |
| 1:26.1 | position in management and you're on a salary, a lot of times you just not like incentivized for growth in that way. And that's my fault. I take that on me for not providing that level of incentive. Yeah. And then I looked back at 23 and I said, man, you know, back then we had lots of editors and they were all fighting for the next video because they got paid per video. |
| 1:47.6 | Well, this other way clearly don't work. |
| 1:50.8 | Yeah. |
| 1:51.5 | Got to get back to competing. |
