Good evening, everybody. How y'all doing? I got a great show plan for you.

Pretty much inspired by faulty coping mechanisms. We're seeing rise in problematic drug and alcohol use.

And we're going to spend a lot of the show talking about harm reduction, which is an option, a really important treatment option, but individual option as well in perspective for those that aren't ready or interested in complete

sobriety.

And yeah, and then we're going to talk about how to get our heads in a more body neutral,

body positive space knowing that the summer's coming and everyone's going to be bombarding

us with toxic messaging around weight loss and calorie counting, which is quite problematic

mental health-wise.

I wanted to just open the show by talking about some different online forms of support

around problematic relationships of drugs or alcohol.

Everyone's familiar generally with AA in the 12 steps, abstinence base, that's the goal.

Some people aren't really a fan and not everyone thrives in AA due to some of the steps

and the concept of powerlessness.

People that are from marginalized exploited identities or populations have been powerless

their entire lives.

And it's not going to be healthy for them to step into something that yet again reinforces

that concept.

And some people don't like the idea of, you know, having to carry this label of addict with

them forever.

And so there's a lot of other

support groups so i want to talk about them a smart recovery is another option that's really important

and that's not necessarily rooted in a higher power they don't use words like powerlessness
