Good evening, everybody. How you all doing out there? Holiday time's coming. So we'll be talking more

0:06.0

about that towards the end of the week. Question of the night. As always, that is up on our

0:10.5

Loveline IG page to weigh in on that. And I hope you guys are taking some time off for the holiday.

0:15.8

If you can, please do so. And what I mean by that is not time to do more labor emotionally or physically

0:22.4

by, you know, setting up, running around doing errands, cleaning. I mean, take some time off

0:27.8

where you are doing nothing but resting and engaging in things that give you pleasure

0:32.1

and joy, whether that's napping, reading, going for a walk, watching movies, laying in the tub, whatever that means for you. For me,

0:40.2

that means a lot of reading. One of my favorite things to do. It's funny when I tell people that I went to

0:44.7

a coffee shop, because here in LA, we have outdoor coffee shops where you can socially distance,

0:48.5

wear your masks, sit outdoors. It's quite stunning. And some people are like, oh, wow, you work a lot. And I'm like, yeah, I do. I sometimes have one or two days off only a month. So I'm definitely trying to do my own work of, like I've said, saying no to taking on anything else for the rest of the year, like my schedule's full, taking on nothing more, definitely taking a huge vacation at the end of this year. But they'll say, wow, that's so much work. And I'll say,

1:11.3

no, that's actually very nourishing and rejuvenating for me. Reading for me is an escape.

1:16.2

It's a distraction. It's also transformative. And I find transformative experiences very, very much

1:22.7

rooted in self-care for me. You know, I really like kind of having my mind expanded, having my mind

1:28.7

challenged, but there's also something very soothing and meditative in it. People talk about

1:32.3

meditation. They think that that means you have to sit in the lotus position silently, and

1:35.8

there's so many different ways to practice meditation because you have to understand what the goal

1:39.4

of meditation is, right? It's about being present. It's about being less attached and connected and controlled by maybe

1:46.1

thoughts or emotions. It's also, though, more importantly, in my mind, as a therapist, what I care

1:50.7

most about is how does it impact your mental and physical health? And it's about anything that really

1:54.2

soothes your nervous system. That's really what I'm looking for. And for me, reading is just one of the

1:58.6

most powerful ways to do that. So consider things like that, going for a walk, laying in your bed, listening to music,

2:04.4

walking around, listening to music, all of that is a form of meditation. So again, you don't have to
