Summary

"There is only one way to avoid criticism; do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing." - Aristotle

To share your voice is to open yourself up for criticism. To make anything worthwhile of your life is to put yourself in the crosshairs of doubters and cynics. Success is and always will be polarizing.

This episode is about changing the way we think about that growth in our lives, as I advocate for embracing love or hate, but refusing to take the route of indifference.

and our inclination to want to slide under the radar, not ruffle feathered.

0:10.0

But maybe the goal should be loved or hated.

0:14.0

Just never ignore. So what does that mean?

0:30.1

Loved, hated, but never ignored, it means.

0:34.2

When you are vocal, right?

0:36.0

0:53.9

that disagree with you. There will be people that agree with you and love you and there will be people that disagree with you. There will be people

0:55.7

that agree with you and love you and there will be people that don't. And so that's a lot to take

1:00.8

in. Our defense mechanism there is to kind of hang out in the weeds. It's to not ruffle feathers.

1:07.1

It's to not say things that provoke or not amplify our voice too high for fear of,

1:14.5

you know, that criticism or what comes with that. But what I'm going to argue is that we should

1:21.1

look at life like that is par for the course. Like, that is what living is about.

1:29.9

Understanding that you are your unique self, and that definitionally is polarizing.

1:35.8

The idea is not to slide by.

1:37.9

The idea is to either be loved or be hated.

1:42.0

Either of those extremes are okay because you're standing for something, but never

1:47.0

ignored. Indifference, appeasing everybody is a losing formula. Aristotle has a quote, and I'm probably

1:56.1

going to butcher this because I didn't look it up, but the only way to avoid criticism, I think,
