Summary

Vanessa Casper explore the theme of Love in the last chapter of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. This week we praise Hagrid for his patient accompaniment throughout the series, defend Ginny and Harry's break-up, and examine the way that funerals fail us. Throughout the episode we consider the question: How do we bring discipline into our love?

We also announce some pretty big news this week! Casper has written a beautiful book, The Power of Ritual. In July we’ll be doing a twenty-one city live show tour to celebrate the book, but it’s available for pre-order right now! 0:06.0	that we are going to be doing in the north of England and Matt. Can I tell you the most exciting thing about this pilgrimage in my opinion?
0:13.0	That it's a Harry Potter pilgrimage in the north of England? I can't imagine what more exciting thing there could be than the things you've already said.
0:19.0	Well, there's going to be a hike where we hike all day, and at the end of the hike, we will take a steam engine train back to our hotel.
0:29.0	Oh my gosh, you're taking the Hogwarts Express? Yes, we are going to be boarding it in a place that looks a lot like Scotland, near Hogwarts.
0:36.0	It's going to look more, I think, like Hogsmeade station than it is going to look like Platform 93-quarters.

0:43.0	But it is going to be great fun. We are going to be talking about Deathly Hallows, carrying the book around in our backpacks, as we go on these amazing hikes and talk about what it means to be a person who wanders around the world.

1:37.0	Before we start today's episode, I just want to say that we are all living in a very changed world right now.
1:44.0	And so we hope that you are all safe, that your family members are safe, and that you are finding ways to take care of yourself right now.
1:53.0	Because the coronavirus is certainly one of the scariest things that I have seen in my lifetime.
1:58.0	And I'm older than a lot of you. So that's saying something.
2:02.0	So to help bring us all together and to help us refocus on the text that has given so much, we are doing a very special thing.
2:09.0	Which is an eight week class. Every Tuesday evening will be gathering to do a deep dive into one of the books.
2:16.0	And to do what we started this whole podcast with, which was an in-person class.
2:20.0	So you'll join with people from all over the country and perhaps even the world to do sacred readings of Harry Potter live online.
