Well, if you missed last week, we jumped into a brand new series called Love That Last.

And we're hoping and praying that the love of Jesus is going to invade our love story in any and every season that's represented in this room.

And I feel increasingly more and more inadequate to be the one who's up here preaching about this

subject, especially when we talk about marriage. And it's like, guys, listen to my marriage advice.

I haven't been married a decade. And I have two little kids and I'm tired all the time. And let me tell

you what God says about marriage. Like this has been a challenge for me because I got a long, long way to go.

But what I love about this series is that we are not going for more dating and marriage advice.

We are going for more surrender to the love of Jesus and more letting him access this area of our lives that so many of us are secretly keeping to ourselves.

And so I don't have all the wisdom in the world on this subject. I don't have something so

specific to say for every single situation. But what I do have is I do have a heart that is

surrendered to God's will in this area of my life, and that was not always the case.

I shared last week that I surrendered to Jesus at 12 years old, but I spent about a decade of my

life taking the pen and writing my own version of this story in this area, and the consequences

were so painful. And it was only when I gave permission to Jesus

to have this area of my life as well.

I saw so much blessing on the other side of that.

So I can preach this from kind of both angles

of I've seen the blessing that comes from letting Jesus

be the one to write this story,

but I've also seen some of the destructive consequences

that come on the other side of getting outside of God's will and outside of God's timing.

And so we're talking about love that lasts, and I kind of wanted to have a lighthearted
