Today's talk comes from Pastor Ben Stewart.

Well, when I was in college, I would ride the bus from my apartment to my classes, and inevitably I would always be on this one particular bus, and the driver had a placard up above his head that had a list of rules. It said, I will not bite, I will not punch, I will not kick, but then underneath that list it said,

because I'm the bus driver.

And then as if to drive it home, it repeated that statement,

because I'm the bus driver.

I'm the bus driver.

And it became obvious if you read it, oh, it's a joke.

But it was a joke that played off of a reality we all understood,

that our roles that we take on in life carry with them a certain responsibility.

So by taking the role bus driver I take on responsibilities, the least of which

is that I will not bite the people on my bus. But all of us as we

enter in certain roles, whatever they may be, we take with them some requisite responsibilities.

We all believe that. Certain identities take on certain activities. Who we are

informs what we do. And I say all that because that's where we are in the book of First

Peter. First Peter is a manifesto to the people of the Messiah.

The guiding principles to the people of God. Let's say if we believe we have a relationship with God through Jesus,

it affects how we live in the world.

This new role carries with it new responsibilities.

This identity has expected activities.
