Authorities have identified the eight children shot and killed by a 31-year-old man in Shreveport, Louisiana yesterday.

They ranged in age from 3 to 11 years old. Police say Shamar Elkins killed seven of his own children and a cousin.

He also critically wounded his wife and another woman before police shot and killed him.

The shocking act of violence marks the nation's deadliest mass shooting in more than two years.

In a press conference yesterday, Mayor Tom Arsenault called it, quote, maybe the worst tragic situation in the city's history.

My understanding is that he had some kind of relationship with the woman who lived at the home where the children were

and with the woman that he had gone to first.

But we're not entirely sure.

Obviously, the two women are in very, very critical condition, so we're not able to get information from

them.

Police say the rampage was, quote, domestic in nature, and the investigation is ongoing.

A lot more news coming up, including why a second round of U.S.-Iran talks is already on shaky

ground. Vice President Jady Vance and top U.S. officials are expected to leave for Pakistan

on Tuesday to take part in a potential round of Iran talks. That's according to people familiar

with the plans. This is all super in flux, though. The White House says there's no formal word

on timing. Here's what Iran's foreign ministry had to say.

As of now, as I am speaking to you, we have no plan for the next round of negotiations.

No decision has been taken in this regard.

Meanwhile, Iran is also vowing retaliation for the U.S. seizure of an Iranian-flagged cargo ship

that the U.S. says ignored repeated warnings

to turn around as it approached a blockaded Iranian port.
