0:00.0	Hi, everyone. Welcome back to Drop Dead Serious. I'm Ashley Banfield. And once again, I have a daily update from the courtroom in the Lori Vallow Daybell trial. Today marks day five. It is Monday, April 14th, 2025. And seated in the gallery of the courtroom
0:23.8	today was Colby Ryan. That's Lori's only surviving son. Detective Ray Hermaccio, he was the lead
0:31.3	detective from the triple murder case back up in Idaho. And Detective Eric Wheeler, who you might remember as Officer Eric Wheeler,
0:41.1	back when Chad Daybell was arrested for murder in Idaho. It was Officer Wheeler who put the
0:46.5	cuffs on Chad Daybill after the police arrived to search his home and his yard. And that was
0:53.2	the day they discovered the bodies of Lori's two kids buried
0:56.4	in Chad's yard. It was also the day that they had to chase after Chad because Chad tried to make
1:03.5	a break for it and got like, I don't know, a few inches. It was a pretty embarrassing chase. After the lunch break today, Charles Vallow's sister
1:14.2	Kay Woodcock and his other sister, Susan, were also seated in the gallery. But I want to take
1:20.1	you back to the beginning and start from square one today. The first witness of the day was Dr. Derek
1:25.7	Bumgartner, the Maricopa County Medical Examiner,
1:29.5	and he told the court about the autopsy of Charles Vallow. Dr. Baumgartner identified two
1:35.8	gunshot wounds. One was in the middle of the chest, and the other one was in the stomach.
1:40.5	And he also observed two small scratches on Charles' left hand and some blood on his left thumb,
1:47.2	but no damage to the watch that he was wearing.
1:50.3	Medical examiner also noted that there were abrasions and contusions, bruises, on both of Charles's
1:56.9	knees and suggested that maybe those injuries happened around the time of death, maybe from
2:03.1	falling to his knees after he was shot the first time. The entrance to the gunshot wound in the chest
2:09.9	showed signs that could indicate stippling, which means that the muzzle of the gun could have been
2:15.2	as close as four to five feet away. Dr. Baumgartner also
2:19.7	testified that the chest wound wasn't immediately fatal, and this is what's always hard to hear.
2:26.8	The Charles Vallow could have been alive for up to two full minutes, maybe even able to speak,
