Hello and welcome to how to Tech Over the World.

This is Ben Wilson.

I have always wanted to start How to Take Over the World, but for fiction.

I think that many of the lessons that can be learned from the great literature of the world

is in some ways just as powerful as the lessons that we learn here

on the great true stories of all time from the lives of people who actually lived in history.

You know, I love Shakespeare. I love Tolkien. I love Lewis. I love Joseph Conrad. These are,

you know, I'm not just a history robot. I like fiction as well. And so this is something I've thought about a lot. I've wanted to start a podcast for How to Take Over the World, but for fiction. I just don't have the time, right? I have trouble keeping up with how to take over the world as it is. So try adding on top of that a whole other podcast. It's just not doable. I actually

tried. I started working on an episode about Macbeth before I realized there's nowhere I could do

this and how to take over the world. But I have a friend named Jameson who have been friends

with since college. And he has always been obsessed with story and the science of story,

writing, creating better stories. And so I took this idea to him and asked if he would

want to partner on creating this show. And he said yes. And so he started the podcast last year,

and he called it becoming the main character. And it is even better than what I had in mind.

He has exceeded my wildest hopes and dreams for the show.

I think he's just done an extraordinarily good job.

Again, that show is called Becoming the Main Character, and it's amazing.

And he just released a series on Lord of the Rings.

He's done over 20 hours of podcast content.
