Hi, this is Josh Marshall, and this is the Josh Marshall podcast.

We're going to talk about a couple things today in this episode.

We're going to talk about democracy.

We are also going to talk about COVID and the Omicron wave.

You know, whenever, whenever someone says, oh, we're going to talk about democracy.

That always, it's from one viewpoint, it's such a generic, anodined thing that I often

still feel like we're going to, it's going to be some, you know, insubstantial conversation

because, you know, who, even people who are against democracy, say they're for democracy,

and it's, it's, you know, just kind of a common totem in American civic culture.

Obviously, as we know, it is fairly contested at, at, at this point.

And so there is a lot to talk about, and we're going to, we're going to get into that,

you know, just in the last few days, President Biden gave this speech down in Georgia

on the threats to democracy, the, the, to the republic that we face right now.

And that is tied to this new push for some version of the four-the-people act in the Senate.

And again, for the people like this is the consensus democracy protection legislation

that has been in the mix all year long, you know, that we've been talking about.
