You know that the reason why we've sort of launched this series is because we all end up in these storms.

And we talk about it from time to time.

In fact, not too long ago we were talking about that passage in Matthew 14 where Jesus comes to the disciples on the lake and they see him.

At first they're afraid, but then he calls to them and says it's me.

Don't be afraid and Peter does what?

Peter immediately says to him, if it is you Lord, then let me come out on the water with you.

And Jesus says, okay, come on out on the water.

So Peter immediately climbs down out of the boat, gets down to water level.

Probably this all happens in a sentence and scripture, but we don't really know how long it took in real life.

He gets down maybe that little ladder thing that goes over the side and now he's down on the water.

And he's like, this is crazy, I'm standing on the water and he's looking at Jesus.

He's like, you really can come and he's like, yeah, come if you want to come.

And he's like, okay, here I go guys.

And then he just starts walking out to Jesus.

And as he goes, the scripture says he realizes that he's in the middle of a storm.

Now they knew they were in a storm before, but once Jesus came, it sort of short-circuited all the storm worry for a moment

because they had ghost worry for a moment.

And then when they realized it was Jesus, he said, okay, then I want to come out there not really thinking that we're in the middle of the storm.

But it says in the scripture that once Peter got down and he got on the water and he started walking towards Jesus.

He saw the wind and the waves.

And that's where everything went off the rails for him.

He lost that locked eye moment with Jesus and he began to really focus more on the circumstances that were around him.
