I just dropped my car off at the dealer for the 30,000 mile checkup.

They're going to change the oil, rotate the tires, replace some other fluids and filters,

and check to see if there are any other problems with the vehicle.

I actually am surprised that I'm here at the dealership,

and I'll explain what I'm doing in just a moment,

but I made the appointment online probably a week and a half ago.

And then this morning, because it's an early morning appointment, this morning,

I was looking for just to make sure that I had it right, that I wasn't misremembering.

This morning, I went and looked for some sort of text confirmation or email confirmation,

and I couldn't find anything, nothing. And I'm doubting whether I made the appointment.

Did I, like, get so far and see that, okay, got the appointment for today at this time,

and maybe there was like one more step, you know, that final button that you're supposed to push,

and I didn't see that and didn't push that.

And so I'm not in the system.

So I fully expected when I drove up to the dealer and talked to the service advisor, fully expected to say,

okay, David Paul, I'm here for my appointment.

They were going to look and go, what's that name again?

How do you spell that?

I'm sorry, sir, but we don't have you listed here.

And I was emotionally prepared for that to happen and then have to turn around and drive back home,

the drive of shame.
