We're going to be seeing what God says is true and aligning our hearts and minds with

going to be looking at Psalm 119 versus 123 through 125. David writes, My eyes long for

your salvation and for the fulfillment of your righteous promise. Deal with your servant

according to your steadfast love and teach me your statutes. I'm your servant. Give me

understanding that I may know your testimonies. The reason I'm looking at this passage for

an Advent sort of a meditation as we're looking forward to Christmas is because of that

very first phrase, My eyes long for your salvation and for the fulfillment of your righteous

promise. I believe David and many of the Old Testament saints, when they spoke phrases

like this, they meant they were longing for God's not only immediate salvation in circumstances

they were facing, but they also were looking forward to his promises of a coming Messiah,

the one who would one day come to introduce righteousness to the nation that would be

lasting and secure. And that's what Christmas is all about, isn't it? Longing for God's

salvation to be real in our lives. And we have a unique privilege given where we live

in time and space. We're able to look back through history at the birth of Jesus that
