Hi, this is Josh Marshall, and this is the Josh Marshall Podcast.

We are back to Social Security.

At the center of our politics, you know, it, it, um, Joe Biden, not accidentally,

put it there, uh, or at least put the light on the fact that it was there

during his state of the Union address, which is, what, no, it's more than a week.

It's almost what, almost two weeks. It's, it's, it's, it's, it's been a while.

It's the middle of, it's the middle of February now.

Um, he, uh, put it there and, and kind of got the whole center of gravity

of the state of the Union ended up kind of being about Social Security

because he got Republicans to argue with him about it during the speech.

You know, so sort of our, our, our, our first call and response,

uh, state of the Union address, at least the first one in, in, in my memory.

Um, but it has, it has kept up, uh, since then.

And that, that has to be what the White House wanted.

Because anytime you're talking about Social Security and whether and how much Republicans

want to cut Social Security or phase it out or, uh, tear it out by the roots,

which is I think what Mike, uh, Sandra Mike Lee said, uh, the first time he ran
