0:56.3	And so this is a time of year when a lot of churches, church leaders, church staff, they get together and they talk about plans for the following year.
1:05.1	But today I want to ask you about ministry and long range planning longer than just what's coming up next year. What sort of calendar
1:11.8	events do we need to to plan for? Based on your experience as a pastor and leader, what sort of
1:19.1	long range thinking do you feel like churches and church leaders should be engaged in?
1:25.0	Specifically, I'd like you to get your comments on what kind of long-range
1:28.9	plans should churches and ministries and ministry leaders be making when it comes to leadership,
1:34.2	finances, and evangelism? Well, that's a big topic. But in my book, Growing a Church, I talk about
1:40.7	seven principles that I think will work for churches of any size. And one of those seven
1:45.8	is planning. Now, my philosophy is this. If you don't plan, you're not going to achieve much.
1:51.9	If you do plan, things will change. Your plans won't be implemented perfectly or probably as you
1:58.9	intend. So you have to be flexible in the method, the timing,
2:03.1	and so forth. But if you do plan, God will honor your plans. And when unexpected circumstances
2:09.5	arise, God will help you to change the plans. And you can still accomplish your purpose.
