It's apparently a contest and it's singing or performing.

But this year the contest has left Germany saying we were last this year.

We were last last year. We were second to last. I believe in 2021 and 2019.

And so therefore we finished so badly we think things are cooked against us.

We're going to withdraw maybe. In Britain another poor showing in the contest writes the long story.

My old grumblings one commentator even raised the question of whether the UK ought to start taking the contest seriously.

So Germany's leaving and Britain is not taking it seriously or threatening not to.

Oh Eurovision is a fantastic little slice of life in Europe. It's a singing contest that dates back to the 1950s.

It's run by an organization called the European Broadcasting Union.

And it is basically a televised song contest on each European country that joins the EU and even some non European countries like Australia.

We'll each within the country select a band or a singer who will represent that country in the contest each year.

And they all perform songs strictly limited to three minutes.

And then at the end of the evening hundreds of millions of people who have watched this across the continent.

Phone in to vote on their favorite act although you cannot vote for the act from your own country. You have to vote for some other country.
