Well, I mean, this is a very troubling story because certainly in the wake of the assassination attempt on former President Trump over the weekend there's been a lot of discussion of US specific factors that might have contributed to that and the nature of a lot of the extreme rhetoric surrounding

this election and former President Trump over the past eight years or so.

But it's worth remembering that we seem to be in an era

where political violence is making something of a comeback.

I mean, Europe in the middle of the 20th century at the same time that America was convulsed by high profile assassinations and various

domestic terror groups engaged in bombings and kidnappings and all the rest of it.

Europe went through its version of that as well.

You know, you've had issues in in the United Kingdom you had examples of this in Germany, Italy, France, I believe, and what's troubling is that over the past few years it seems to be picking up pace in Europe.
