Watching from afar, King Charles and his Queen's visit to Australia.

Remember, King Charles and Queen Camilla are King and Queen of Australia as well of the United Kingdom.

When they're in Australia, I think they're treated correctly.

However, over these last days, there have been sensational headlines in Australia and in London

about challenges to the King, denunciation of the King, denunciation of the

empire, of the practices of the empire. Joe, is this biting in London media?

Are they watching these, what you'd have to say, unfortunate incidents in Australia?

I think there is definitely an awareness of that and I think it's driven by the fact that there's an

awareness of this phenomenon that you and I have discussed over the past couple of years since the

death of the late Queen John, which is this issue that so much of the tolerance for even affection for the monarchy had come to be rooted in people's personal affection for Queen Elizabeth the second.

And I think that everyone has been waiting to see if that affection by large sections of the public would transfer on to King Charles and certainly

my perception in the United Kingdom is that it has that there is a certain affection

for him that is developing now. People do feel that connection, but there has been this

question of whether that would also be the case in other questions within the British Commonwealth
