This is CBS High of the World. I'm John Batcher with Joseph Sternberg, member of the editorial

board of the Wall Street Journal. He's in London. And I'm in New England and Joe knows

New England very well. So the observations that he brings to this discussion are very helpful.

He's been through real winters. That's New England winters. Vermont, New Hampshire, real

winters. When you go outside and it's minus 15 degrees Fahrenheit, yes, I did that once.

Unfortunately, I could get back inside quickly because all of a sudden it becomes hard to

breathe. Now, none of that is happening in London. Joe tells me, however, they've had a

snow apocalypse. What does it look like, Joe?

Well, we had several inches, I think, of snow on Sunday evening. And it was actually absolutely

beautiful when you went outside. I went for a walk at about 10 in the evening on Sunday

because I couldn't resist the New Englander in me. Couldn't resist the opportunity to

go out and enjoy the snow and people were building snowmen, quite large snowmen, actually. I was

impressed as a New Englander and generally enjoying themselves. And then Monday rolled around

and people had to commute and that went less well because the reality is that the UK historically

has had a pretty mild climate might only get one, maybe two at the outside, snowstorms each

year, especially in the south of the UK in London and the south east. And so I think that
