Good morning and welcome to the Independent Republic of Mike Graham right here on Talk of Radio.

We've got lots and lots to do today

because it is once again at the end of a very confusing week. And if anybody out there can make

sense of it, I would very much appreciate it. And I'd be very grateful for an explanation.

Here is a brief summation of what has happened. Prime Minister Boris Johnson spent most of the

week telling us he didn't want to impose further lockdown restrictions,

and then did it anyway. Shadow Health Secretary Jonathan Ashworth said a lockdown would be a disaster,

then two hours later, Labour leaders of Keir Stama, called for, yep, you've got it, a total lockdown.

Now we've got Andy Burn and Mayor of Manchester resisting a Tier 3 lockdown that London wants to impose on him

that he actually asked for a few weeks ago,

but now he wants money for it. Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab says it can be enforced on the city by the government if necessary.

Good luck with that, as I would say. As if that wasn't enough, we've got London Mayor Sadiq Khan pushing for a circuit breaker two weeks shutdown for London,

despite his entreaty just a few weeks

ago to get everyone back into the bars and restaurants and it's all happening as infections appear

to be going down we're getting john rental to unravel it all he's the chief commentator

of course at the independent i'm going with the daily mails headline this morning an epidemic

of madness because that's what it is 034449 1000,000, as I said to Julie Hartley-Bruhe, this is clearly no longer about the science,

this is clearly no longer about anything but power politics, money, and grabbing as much

as you possibly can and trying to represent the people.

But I don't know who's doing it.
