Summary

The Warriors flipped the switch at the right time, coming on strong against the Spurs from the opening tip. They rebounded the ball with ferocity, outboarding San Antonio by 21. Kevin Durant and Draymond Green filled up the stat sheet, while Klay Thompson filled up the bucket (27 points on 13 shots, 0/0 from the FT line). Steve Kerr opted to start Andre Iguodala in a very shrewd move. The Spurs, especially LaMarcus Aldridge, were held in check for the entire game. LMA only put of 12 shots, and could only be counted on for 2 boards on Saturday. That will change though, as LMA is too good of a player to put up two clunkers in a row. The Warriors will have to stay composed and keep their energy and wits about them if they want to hold serve again. Around the NBA, the Rockets were knocked about by the Timberwolves despite Karl-Anthony Towns and Jimmy Butler playing poorly. Houston needed every one of James Harden's 44 points to get past Minny. Game 2 should be interesting. Also: Boston is better than the sum of its parts. And: Anthony Davis really is the monster we've all said he is. Learn more about your ad choices. Greetings Hoopsheads. Welcome to Lockeddown Warriors, part of the Lockdown Podcast Network. It's Monday, April 16th. I'm your host, Aliko Carter. My biggest worry going into the playoffs for the Golden State Warriors was whether or not they would be able to turn on a switch

0:38.3

at the right time. Because what I wanted was to see a few good games before the end of the

0:44.3

regular season that would allow the Warriors to get into their groove and really come into the

0:52.2

playoffs strong. But they didn't do that. They came into the playoffs floundering, winning seven of their last 17 games,

0:59.1

and getting trucked by the Utah Jazz in the last game of the season.

1:03.8

But still 58 wins is nothing to sniff at,

1:06.1

and this team is known.

1:09.2

You know, it has a championship pedigree, still had the best offense in the league

1:14.3

this year by a hair, a top 10 defense. And so you're looking at it and you're saying, yeah,

1:20.5

we'll probably be okay. We'll probably be okay. Definitely dodged a bullet in facing the spurs

1:26.8

without Kauai Leonard in the first round as opposed to a few

1:29.7

other teams we played the warriors pretty strong but did they come out and play or did they come

1:35.7

out and play on saturday like they're a whole new team credit immediately goes to steve kerr who inserted and Igadala into the starting lineup for a lineup of

1:48.5

Andre at the point forward, Clay Thompson, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, and Javelle McGee, who played out

1:56.3

of his mind a new playoff career high. We're going to get into that. We're going to talk about this game

2:03.0

and about the game tonight, potentially how the spurs are going to bounce back and what we can

2:08.4

expect to see from both teams on T&T this evening. We're also going to do a quick around the NBA

2:15.8

and take a look at all of the teams who played

2:18.7

over the weekend. The Rockets inched their way into a W over the Minnesota Timberwolves

2:27.2

behind James Harden, brilliance, 44 points. And if that's any indication, that game and the

2:32.9

game that the Warriors played against the Spurs,

2:35.3

then the Rockets are going to have a tougher time getting to the conference finals, especially if
