Summary

We all have a choice as to how we want to live our lives. We can either choose a lifestyle that pleases God, or one that only pleases ourselves. A distinguishing mark of the new covenant is that we have the Holy Spirit who works in us and empowers us to do things that are pleasing to God; these are the very things that we are not capable of doing on our own. However, too many Christians who are under grace do not understand its nature; they become comfortable with their sin and reason that whatever the world does is okay for them to do also. Although God still loves them, they become accustomed to living solely for themselves. If we find ourselves at this point and do not know how to bring our lives back into control, we simply need to let the Holy Spirit teach us how to resist worldly temptations and yield our wills to God’s will. We find power, purpose, and direction when we decide to cooperate with, not fight against, God.

0:24.5	Beginning at verse 1, we've been talking about the cross being the dividing line between the
0:33.4	old covenant and the new covenant. We have also been talking about the two ministries of Jesus
0:39.4	that in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, you find Jesus not only fulfilling all of the law, but we
0:47.0	also find Jesus giving way to that new covenant that was to come, a way of grace, of love, of light.
0:58.2	In fact, I want to start off this morning in John chapter 8 and show you that, but my focus this
1:03.3	morning is to talk about and answer the question, are we living life for Christ or are we living
1:10.4	life for self? It's going to come down to that. Am I living my life for Christ and doing in my life
1:18.7	what will bring him pleasure? Or am I living life for myself and doing in my life what will bring
1:27.8	me pleasure? And ultimately, what we're going to be dealing with is, you know, is sin allowed
1:35.8	by grace. Is grace really the license for people to settle in and just kind of live in sin because
1:43.3	they look at the world and they say, well, it's normal in the world, then how come it can't be
1:48.8	normally in my life? And so it's going to come down to some very serious things. So you pray for me
1:55.9	that I may have utterance in the spirit to bring about some really good information that I think
2:03.5	will help you to decide for yourself in your life. Let's look at John chapter 8, very, very
2:10.4	interesting things that are going on here because we know that Jesus was going to fulfill the law
2:16.6	and not one jot or title of the law was going to go unfulfilled. And yet he was tested here in John
2:22.4	chapter 8 on whether or not he would do what the law of Moses said, which, you know, he was alive to
